Custom API DSM “248” – One‑of‑a‑Kind Hybrid Analog Desk with SSL Automation
My console is a custom Paul Wolff–designed API DSM “248” split‑console system—modified by Jeff Steiger (CAPI) to feature 24 channel inputs and 8 dedicated busses feeding an API 7800 master section.

Operates in split‑console mode (24 channel inputs + 8 busses) or inline mode (32 Channels) for maximum hybrid flexibility.

Expanded routing via the CAPI mod allows large‑format style stem mixing, parallel processing, and classic analog summing.

Faders, automation, and transport are fully integrated and controlled via an SSL Nucleus DAW control surface for hands‑on control of your mixes in both the analog and digital domain.

This console provides the large format console sound with API punch, depth, and clarity with the adaptability and routing to handle modern hybrid workflows, the console can record to our TEAC A2340s 1/4" analog tape machine, Pro Tools, or Logic Pro. While we love our outboard gear, we also have an extensive collection of plugins and VSTs including NI KONTAKT KOMPLETE 14 COLLECTORS EDITION, Brainworx Ultimate, Ozone, East West, Full SSL/Slate Plugin Suite, Toontrack, Waves Ultimate. Roli (Equator 2, Strobe, Cypher), Reason, Splice, and more.

I/O & Preamps

Primary Conversion: Presonus Quantum 4848 (32 channels analog I/O) + two Focusrite Clarett 8PreX via ADAT for hybrid expansion up to 48 channels simultaneous I/O.
